Description

Unchanged in recipe. Unflagging in popularity. Who could have guessed that what began as a celebratory drink among hunters would give rise to a story as bold, rich and varied as our iconic herbal liqueur itself?

Produced in the town of Wolfenbüttel, Germany, Jägermeister is derived from 56 herbs, spices, fruits and roots from across the world the aged in enormous oak barrels. The traditional way to enjoy the dense liqueur is chilled in the freezer and then drunk from a shot glass. Blending 56 botanicals, our ice-cold shot has always been embraced by those who take originality to the next level.

Nature made it, we put it in a bottle. The highest-grade herbs, blossoms, roots and fruits from around the globe are crafted into 4 distinct macerates, then combined in modern-day alchemy into our herbal spirit. The full ingredient list is a closely guarded secret, but raise a glass to your lips and you’ll taste all 4 corners of the world.

Our taste profile stands out in any crowd. True connoisseurs can single out Jägermeister’s 5 distinct notes; we can’t tell you how we make them, but here’s a hint…

Sweet Star Anise The sharp sweetness is highly potent in both taste and aroma, making this the star of the show.
Cinnamon The comforting familiarity of the sweetest spice invites a sense of festivity to the finish of our shot.
Liquorice Root With a flavour less divisive than liquorice candy, this sweet and earthy root grounds our elixir like a lightning rod.
Bitter Orange The shot borrows its marmalade-like tartness from the common orange’s more extroverted cousin.
Chiretta The deep bitterness of this mystical herb contributes with the richness found hiding in our dark elixir.
Fruity/Citrus Orange Peel The fruit’s essential oils are liveliest in its peel, accenting the shot’s taste with a zest for adventure.
Spicy/Earthy Ginger This potent root contains the full-flavoured essential oils behind much of the drink’s vim and vigour.
Galangal Also known as Thai ginger, this sharp, pine-scented spice packs a citric punch.
Herbs/Aromatic Clove This treasure adds a spicy intensity to the aroma.
Mace Nutmeg’s golden chassis is its own lesser-known, and subtly complex, spice.
Cardamom The queen of spices endows the shot with floral and citric notes, unifying flavours with its warm embrace.

It was Wilhelm Mast’s son, Curt, who took the family vinegar business in a very different direction. A few years passed before he perfected Jägermeister’s recipe of 56 botanical ingredients but we think it was well worth the wait. To this day, the eyes of our founder still watch over his creation; immortalized in stone.

The Jagermeister Stag logo draws from the tale of Saint Hubertus. Once a wild huntsman, Hubertus had a vision of a mighty stag carrying a glowing cross between its antlers. The vision transformed him and afterwards he championed a greater respect for nature, eventually becoming known as the patron saint of hunters. Curt Mast thought this powerful story was a perfect match to his potent elixir and adopted the emblem of the stag in honor of the true ‘Hunting Master’.

Sometimes only a shot of Jägermeister will do! Made from 56 herbs, spices, fruits and roots, this popular liqueur packs a lot of flavour in. Keep this handy in the freezer for a super chilled shot on a summer night.
